Why this …

In order to know what I think, I have to write and see what I say. Roland Barth, with thanks to Elena Aguilar @artof coaching1

Writing is my way of thinking, or processing my thinking. So, that is what I shall be doing here. Thinking, out loud, in the cloud, about the pressing issues of teaching and learning in our schools.

This is a 30 year journey for me, a journey that has kept me curious and passionate about how we must ensure optimal learning opportunities exist for all our students in all our classrooms. Not just some kids, but all kids.

I have been influenced by many brilliant people in this journey: some very public, some not. But, all exceptional in their own ways, and from whom I have learned and grown my own understandings of what makes for good learning – adult and student, what contributes to change in schools and why every classroom context must be respected and valued.

The photo in the header represents a crucial element of this journey: the snow covered grounds of Munich International School, a source of, and catalyst for, significant learnings with and from colleagues. A very large step out of my comfort zone.
